There are management sciences to help:
– business owners and administrators manage their businesses.
– board members and administrators manage their not-for-profit organizations.
– politicians and public administrators manage the institutions they are elected or hired to manage.
To complete the overall picture, there is now a new management science to help citizens, including politicians, public administrators and civic leaders, wherever they are on our global village, manage their societies. This science is called SOCIETALogy.
SOCIETALogy has two objects of study:
1 – societies, and
2 – citizens
First Object of Study
SOCIETALogy’s first object of study is society and SOCIETALogy studies societies as organizations.
SOCIETALogically speaking, societies do not exist per se. They are not entities. Society is just a concept we have invented to say in one word that citizens organize themselves to be able to live together. They are only the results of our individual, group and collective actions.
As such, SOCIETALogy studies how our individual, group and collective actions affect the quality, the quantity, and the availability of our societal resources; which in turns affect our individual, group and collective actions.
Finally, and this is its most important role; SOCIETALogy studies how this societal dynamic either increases or decreases the level of social tensions, frictions and conflicts.
The better the societal dynamic of a society will be, the less social and societal tensions, frictions and conflicts there will be.
Second Object of Study
SOCIETALogy’s second object of study is the citizen. Since societies are organizations, SOCIETALogy studies citizens as the co-owners of these societal organizations.
As such, SOCIETALogy identifies the competences each citizen should possess to be able to play their co-ownership role effectively and have a positive impact on the societal dynamic .
Since we are all co-owners of the societies we live in; we all need to possess the following competences.
– Individual – towards ourselves
– Social – towards others
– Societal – towards the collectivity
By possessing these competences, citizens will have a positive impact on the societal dynamic of their societies and thus reduce the level of social tensions, frictions and conflicts.
The SOCIETALogy Institute
The SOCIETALogy Institute has developed a methodology to help all interested citizens, including politicians, public administrators, and civic leaders, evaluate their society, identify their needs and choose the best practices that are the most compatible with their society while having a positive impact on their Societal Dynamic.
